Darryl Barron graduated in Classical Guitar at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1999 studying with Peter Constant and Tonié Field. He went on to complete a Fellowship Performance Diploma from Trinity College, Cambridge, majoring in Mandolin and Mandola. He has studied with notable mandolinists such as Alison Stephens and Stephen Lalor.

 He is currently the coordinator of the Fretted Strings Department at Carey Baptist Grammar School in Melbourne, where he runs Victoria's only school-based Mandolin Orchestra. He is also the assistant conductor and leader of the Mandola section of the Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra and has performed in Australia, New Zealand, the USA, France, Luxembourg and Germany.

Darryl also works as a freelance musician, regularly playing in orchestra pits for various theatre companies. He is comfortable performing on many plucked string instruments including guitar (acoustic and electric), banjo, ukulele, mandolin and the electric bass.
