Goetz Richter is one of Australia's leading string educators and performers. Currently Associate Professor at the University of Sydney's Conservatorium of Music Goetz was Associate Concertmaster with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 1987 until 2002. Over the past 25 years Goetz Richter has appeared as a violin soloist, recitalist and chamber musician in Australia and Europe. He has given numerous concerto performances and has been a leader and guest leader of a number of Australian Orchestras. Chamber music collaborations have included performances with leading Australian and international artists such as David Pereira, Roger Benedict, Herrmann Baumann, Gerhard Fauth and Bernhard Greenhouse. He performs regularly with pianist Jeanell Carrigan and he has appeared for Musica Viva and the ABC. His students have been prizewinners at national and international violin competitions and are members of major international orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Orchestra. They also play with most Australian Orchestras. As the Music Director of the Riverina Summer School for Strings since 2013, Goetz always convenes a wonderful group of outstanding Australian and international string players, educators and artists to make each summer school an inspiring musical and personal experience for all participants.
